nothing to do . . .

Lounging hungover in the sun with tea and brioche; an ideal end-of-summer day when work is over and college is still a long way off.

some cool things.

I ripped the sleeves off an old Penney's denim jacket, dyed it black and studded the collar. Looks groovy but I find it difficult to wear because of the constant need for long sleeves in an Irish summer. Hopefully it will get more use in Spain!
I got these bad boys for 1.99 in a knick knack shop in Westport. Originally bought them for my 6 year old sister who's a stylish gal, but had to get another pair for myself. Why? Who knows. Plus they have UV protection according to the sticker, so the tiny portion of my face that they do cover will be protected. Yay!
So basically this random middle aged guy in work called me over and smiled and winked as he offered me something from his closed hand. Obviously I thought it was a tip and said a big over the top thank-you-so-much, only to discover my tip was in fact this tiny little Canada flag-badge. I don't know what he meant by it but it's still pinned to my jacket. Maybe I should collect more from different countries and stud the jacket like I did with the one above. New mission.

fairy dust

So I once again go bored of a pair of shoes. I bought these when (I thought) I was rolling in it but never really liked the colour. I liked the shape so got them anyway. I've worn them about 3 times so I decided to change them! Because I'm having a bit of a gold moment I thought that would work nicely, plus I love using this amazing gold paint. It's like using fairydust. You sprinkle some gold dust into the tin, mix it with their special 'Judson's medium', which sounds very mystical and interesting, and it turns into liquid gold! The best part is, because of its oil base you can use it on almost anything. Even 'TV and radio grills' boasts the box. So that's how old it is. Anyway, after an hour of fiddly painting, tah dah! My crappy coral shoes were transformed into shining gold wedges! Thank you Judson, whoever you are!

...after writing this, I realise it sounds like a shitty ad for Judson's gold paint. I assure you it's not, I just get way too much enjoyment from using old fashioned products like this. What, you have to mix it yourself? Oh how darling and quaint and VINTAGE!

more stripes and a toucan

I look kinda goofy in the last picture but I like it anyway. Hiya sun, happy to be out of the house on my day off and looking forward to finishing up work next week before jetting off to Spain next month!

not sporty

never really got into the sporty trend over the summer even though I loved it, mostly because I've never done anything sporty in my life and I'd feel like a liar if I did. Although the top I'm wearing here is of lycra material these pictures didn't really come across as overly athletic or sporty. Oh well the colours are pretty.

Sunglasses and ring are Romwe,  and the top is second hand. I'm also obsessed with this gold nail varnish- Gilty Pleasure by Sally Hansen.

stripes

I remember seeing a hairstyle like this in a Barbie magazine when I was about 6 and being completely obsessed with it. I was too young to manage it at the time so I attempted it 13 years later. It doesn't look much like Barbie's 'do but I'm happy with the results! (it's meant to be a plait-bun type thing). The T-shirt is an old one of my dad's, leggings are New Look and shoes are Urban Outfitters. The beautiful leather handbag is from a second hand shop shop in Dublin and was a birthday present from my granddad. Hint: he didn't pick it out. Necklace is Monsoon and earrings are second hand. Wow I'm only wearing two pieces of jewellery, that's a first! Loving bright colours and clashing prints.

The lipstick I'm wearing here and pretty much always is from the Kate Moss for Rimmel collection. The number 12 one has lovely orangey red tones and it's the only lipstick I've ever worn that I think actually looks nice! Maybe I'm wrong but I doubt I'm going to stop wearing it any time soon.

Indian summer

Making the most of the last of the lovely weather, although I'm hoping that because of the red sky and delighted shepherds that all the meteorologists were wrong and the sun continues to shine for a few days; at least until my next day off! If I'm wrong about the weather I'll just have to treat myself to a sauna and steam to show off this gorgeous swimsuit. Love the backless design and I'm so happy it fits so well!

Partly did these pictures to secure my 10% off deal with 9 crow street but also because I knew the swimsuit would make beautiful pictures. I layered on the gold jewellery (again) to bring out the rich colours of the swimsuit. Love the background of rugged rocks and glistening water at Old Head. I really haven't visited the beach enough this summer, which is ridiculous as it's five minutes away from my house! I sort of forgot how beautiful it was until today, and now can't wait to go back!

vest GAP // skirt Penneys // sandals New Look

We recently stayed in a lovely guesthouse in Belfast and these pictures are taken in beautiful sunlight coming through the huge bay windows. Love the way the light shines though the translucent skirt. Don't mention the leopard print...

Me and my little sister Sarah enjoying the sunshine later on that day.

lazy days

My boyfriend got me this Banksy-ly clad jumper as a present from a stall in London a couple of years ago. The leggings are from the boringly accessible New Look. Perfect comfy clothes for lying-on-the-couch-chic.

On a somewhat related side note, I can't stop buying leopard print. Am I going to look back in years to come and think 'wow what a stylish and fashion forward individual I was' or wonder who the let me spend THAT much money on various types of animal prints printed onto various fabrics on various items of clothing. I don't think I care. I'm gonna keep working it until I look in the mirror and mistake myself for a jungle cat. That's when I'll know.
