sunkissed

We've had such a lovely few days here that any time I haven't spent working or at college I've been at the beach enjoying the sun. I managed to take some pictures on one of the only days it wasn't warm enough for bare legs, a casual look with my favourite jeans and plenty of jewellery of course!

cowboys and indians

Once agin I apologise for my blogging absence. Living in Valladolid has, for some reason, left me feeling unispired fashion and style wise. Everyone in the city dresses immaculately, with simple timeless pieces. Living there I began to emulate this style, buying more basic pieces and eventually finding myself dressed head to toe in black. While I thought this was just the evolution of my style - maybe I was finally growing up? - I've realised that it was more a lack of inspiration and, on my part, trying too hard to fit in. I wasn't happy with this blog and was even tempted to delete it for a while, feeling a complete lack of inspiration.

Returning to Dublin I found myself staring at people in the street and manequins in shops lusting after their clothes and longing for a more unusual and colourful style. I love the way I used to dress and it made me sad thinking that I've changed my style so much in such a short space of time! From now on I'm going to try to be more true to my own style, and hopefully the coming warmer months will make that a little easier. Being back in Dublin also made me really excited to be living back there in September! Sorry for the rant, but you can look forward to seeing some more playful and fun looks like I used to post back on here! :)

autumn jewels

My mum and sister came to visit this weekend, and I got this lovely Zara jacket as a birthday present from my Grandad (hint: he didn't pick it out). I love it so much and it's really complimented by the autumn colours in this picture and the fallen leaves all over the city. And, since most of my clothes are black, I can wear it all the time! I've wanted a baroque print jacket like this for ages and I love the way it fits as well. The gold chain is from Primark and the heeled shoes are Topshop.

I'm wearing my new lipstick as well, 'starry eyed' by Rimmel. I think the colour ties in well with the rest of the outfit and is a great colour all round for Autumn!

The last picture is of a gorgeous little bracelet my sister made for me for my birthday. I love the jewel tones of the beads. What a great addition to my already oversized jewellery collection!

it's all just a bunch of hocus pocus

After careful consideration I have found the perfect Hallowe'en costume! It's basically a combination of two of my favourite things: I've always loved this film, and of course SATC and Carrie Bradshaw have been part of my life for a long time now, without sounding too pathetic. I can't think of being anything better than donning dark red lipstick, multiple rings, a long witchy dress and loose messy hair for the night. Not too far off my usual attire!

Indian pin-up

Yes it is that swimsuit again. I paired it with these autmnal colours to bring it into the chillier months. I love the way the hues of the seaweed in the background accent the tones in the outfit. Topped off with a headscarf, heavy eyebrows and a bindi for that popular look 50s-pin-up-with-an-Indian-twist. You know the one.

nymph

What a gorgeous day. My mum and I went to the beach expecting hoards of last minute tourists only to find a deserted stretch of sand just for us! This forest is right beside the beach so we were delighted to have it all to ourselves in the dappled sunlight; a perfect backdrop for this outfit of rich colours and fabrics.

I made these shorts myself from a piece of material I found in my bedroom and a black skirt I bought for work and never wore, with the help of a few DIY tutorials on YouTube. I'm delighted with how they turned out. The fabric has tiny mirrors sewed in, which made sewing them very difficult but it was worth the way they glimmer when they catch the light. I've already worn them on a night out and they managed to survive so I'm pretty happy with that as a quality test. I originally got the inspiration for the shorts from these beautifully shot pictures by planet blue for their august lookbook yesterday's flowers. I love everything about those pictures: the setting, the colours, the clothes and the model, but the shorts  (from the fifth and sixth pictures in the lookbook) really caught my eye and I thought "I can do that", and it turns out I can!

The lacey lilac bralet is from Topshop and the gorgeous necklace is an old one of my mum's mum. I rarely get to wear it so it's such a treat when I can. It's such a decorative piece and can really dress up an outfit. I think it fits in well with the luxurious feel of this look.

Sorry about the unusually long post, I'm just quite proud of the fact that I made a functioning piece of clothing! Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine x
